Hooks, treble hooks, swivels, fishing snaps, fishing rods, a huge variety of plugs and other fishing tackle. All this I bought from Aliexpress for an adequate price, getting a high quality product. I will tell you about it today, read to the end – it will be interesting.
I constantly ordered fishing tackle from Ali, but I did it carefully, in small batches. I mostly ordered for myself, my father, who has been fishing for over 50 years, and my father-in-law. Once again, a few years ago, we decided to make a big order, which I will tell you about today.
To be honest, after receiving the parcel, I wanted to make a review right away and even started to do it, but my conscience did not allow me to tell you about the tackle without having tested it in practice.
Hooks from Aliexpress
I will start with the hooks and treble hooks. There have been several orders of single hooks before. They were all pretty good quality, but the hooks you see are the bomb!
The first type of hook is designed for octopus fishing in the seas and oceans. It is made of quality high-carbon steel and should easily withstand salt water. What to say about fresh water.
Since we do not catch a lot of octopus, the hooks were bought for the sinker for pikeperch fishing. For this purpose, they can be bent, and cast in lead sinker.
If you want, you can put a string, live bait, or barb on the sinker, or leave everything as it is. When bending the hook does not break, but springs – indicating good quality steel. Ordered a batch of 100 for $3.23.
The second type of hooks, aka Maruseigo, is designed for carp or other large fish, but was also bought for predator fishing, particularly pikeperch. The material of these hooks is similar to the previous one – it is high-carbon steel.

I bought 2 sizes #1 and #2 at 150 each, for a total cost of $7.68.
I ordered the treble hooks in two colors, red and brown. Earlier, I also took the usual white version.
According to the seller’s description, these hooks are also designed for ocean fishing. The treble hooks are identical, differing only in color. They can be used for balancers, can be hooked on a variety of baits, plugs, and reels.
I bought the treble hooks in batches of 500, with a price of $21.05 for the red ones and $17.81 for the brown ones. Now the seller’s minimum batch is 50 pieces.
All of the hooks shown are incredibly sharp and of high quality. Almost 4 years of experience with the tackle, so the information can be trusted.
Baits from Aliexpress
And here we get to the brightest part of our review of fishing tackle from Aliexpress – it’s the baits.
Plugs
I ordered from the same seller I bought single hooks from. At the time he had a wholesale offer for $24.46, which included a set of 40 plugs, 6 types. All of the plugs are excellent quality and fit nicely into my collection.
Now in the seller’s store you can buy the same items, separately for each type, with a minimum order of 5-8 pieces. Silicon baits are also available from him.
What was in the kit? Two kinds of poppers, minnow plugs, surface or shallow running and sinking versions, fat and rattlers, aka lipless crankbaits. Let’s go over each type separately.
Popper. These are lipless surface plugs that make a squelching sound and spit water. They are suitable for shallow water fishing, with a tugging action. In our set we have 6 lures, divided into 2 types – with a weight of 9.2 g and 6.9 g. The poppers are 6,4 cm long.
Minnow. A thin and elongated lures with a blade, also called a stick. In our case, there are 2 varieties of minnow: surface, with a short blade and requiring jerk wagering, and deep-water, with an extended blade, which can be used in uniform wagering, fishing in the cast. But it is better to use them for fishing “on the track”, i.e. trolling. A total of 16 minnow plugs are in the set, 8 of each type. The small fish are 5 cm long and weigh 2.5 g; the longer ones are 10 cm and 7.8 g.
Fat. The name comes from the word “fat”, so these plugs have a short and wide body. So to speak, fat crucians. To fishing on the fat can be used even wiring. Of their pluses, you can highlight the fact that they fly well when thrown. In the set went 6 fish: 2 bright, 2 moderate and 2 dark. The lures weight is 11.3 g, length – 7.6 cm.
Rattlin. In the world, this plugs is called a lipless crankbaits, that is, a lipless crankbait.The name rattlin is related to the word “rattling” because most lures of this type come with one or more rattle chambers. In our case, fish with rattling chambers. Their feature is the attachment on the back of the fish. As a result of this arrangement, lures have a high-frequency small-amplitude game, accompanied by vibration. Plugs also hold well the horizon in which the fisherman spends them. There were 6 different colored fish in the set. One fish was 8 cm long and weighed 11.8 g.
Silicone Bait
Another type of lures that I bought in China was silicone bait. To be more specific, I took a soft bait for bass. I decided on a product with a lot of reviews and an adequate price. I was completely satisfied with these lures. The shrimp are soft, but they are not easily bitten by the fish. The silicon flies well on the cast and moves well in the water.
Fishing rods from Aliexpress
I couldn’t get past the rods from China. I ordered a total of two, of different lengths.
At the time of the first order I was looking for a rod about 7 meters long, so in the end I settled on the 7.20 m variant.
The seller was not entirely honest, so the characteristics of the sent fishing rod did not match the specified one. At the moment there is a warning on the product page, but it does not release him from responsibility. There were questions both about weight and length. In fact, the rod turned out to be 60 centimeters shorter than stated. Despite the smaller size, the rod weighed 286 grams without the cork, which is slightly higher than the data under the product. That is why I opened a dispute and refunded part of the money.
All in all, the rod cost $15. Plus there was a small set of fishing tackle as a gift.
As for the quality of the rod, things are a little better. It consists of 13 knees. The carbon is of good quality, so there were no cracks or snags. The last knee is quite thin, so I would not recommend catching fish over 2-3 kg. In my opinion, the rod plays quite strongly in the hand, especially in windy weather, so it is better to fish with horns. This budget rod is not a bad option for a beginner, but definitely not for a professional fisherman.
The second rod was a successful purchase that I could not be happier with. I needed a rod for live bait, which could fit in a fishing backpack. So the choice fell on a rod with a length of 2.1 meters in the unfolded state, and 45 centimeters when folded. The rod is lightweight and has six elbows. It is perfect for fishing from the shore, as well as from a boat. The material is carbon fiber. Despite its small size and weight, the rod can hold even a big catch. The connector under the reel does not jam and holds it well.
Fishing Accessories
Next item I want to show fishing equipment, without which it is impossible to make a normal gear. All products are suitable for both beginners, who are just learning the craft, and experienced fishermen, who have devoted decades to their favorite business.
Fishing bags
I bought a total of two fishing bags. One large multifunctional for gear, the second, on the belt, for comfortable trolling. I will tell you more about them.
The first bag is roomy and has a large number of compartments. It serves to transport, in the car, fishing tools and tackle.
It is uncomfortable to walk around with it for a long time, because only the weight of the bag itself is about 600 grams. But it is comfortable to carry accessories from the car to the place of fishing, because there is a shoulder strap and standard handles. The material of the bag is waterproof oxford. This will keep metal tools and lures safe from corrosion. As I said, the size of the bag is quite large, namely 40 cm x 15 cm x 22 cm. I was completely satisfied with the bag, so I can safely recommend it for purchase.
The second bag is made of waterproof PVC fabric. It is worn on the belt with a length-adjustable strap.
The bag is lightweight, weighing 250 grams, but roomy enough. It has a total of 4 multifunctional compartments. Most often in them I put my phone, keys and fishing gear. The bag is not bad and does a great job.
Fish jaw spreader
The tool is used to safely extract the tackle from the fish’s mouth. It is most often used together with fishing extractors. I ordered a set of three different jaw spreaders. They are the same size, 17 centimeters each, but the tips are different.
One jaw spreader is all metal, with interlocking beads on the end, the others have plastic reamers. The set is good, useful, and the accessories are of excellent quality. It is ideal to use this set when catching pike, pikeperch or other predator up to 5 kg.
Fishing line
Nowadays, braid fishing line is becoming more and more popular. Unlike monofilament fishing line, it has a greater breaking load, with the same characteristics, and also has better properties associated with durability. Of course, most of the production of fishing lines are in China, as in the case of any other products for fishing. Therefore, I purchased several versions of fishing lines that differed in color and diameter. I chose the brand SeaKnight, which has its official stores on Aliexpress and Amazon. The lines of this brand are even designed for ocean fishing, so they will last a long time when fishing in fresh waters.
I bought fishing line 0.4# (0.10 mm / 8LB / 3.6 kg), 0.6# (0.12 mm / 10LB / 4.5 kg), 1.0# (0.16 mm / 20LB / 9.1 kg). I wanted to experiment a bit with the color, so I bought yellow and green. The weave of the line consists of 3 and 4 strands, depending on the size. I was satisfied with the cord. The breaking load is almost the same as advertised. I did not notice any blemishes. I did not have a chance to check the length of the line, but the volume is similar to the 300 meters indicated by the seller.
Fishing swivels
Now let’s move on to swivels. A fishing swivel is used to prevent twisting of the tackle because its rings have the ability to rotate around their axis, independent of each other. Swivel is located at the junction of different parts of fishing gear. For example, the connection of the leader and the main line or cord, plug or bobber and the main line or cord, etc.
The first option. It has a gradation both in size and loading capacity – the force to break, which allows you to choose the necessary swivel, both by the characteristics of the tackle, and by the fishing conditions. I took number 10, a set of 100 pieces for $2.88.
The second option. It has a convenient system of connecting the parts of the tackle – by sliding the camber along the axis of the swivel up and down, opening or closing the half-loop. Convenient for frequent changes of docked parts, such as changing the leader while fishing. Does not require the use of snaps and crowning rings. Took S, M, and L size. The cost of a set of 30 pieces – $ 1.46.
The third option. It has a gradation in size and carrying capacity. The form of this swivel, namely its attachment to a hollow metal tube, allows you to easily move the swivel along the line or cord by passing the line through the hollow tube and securing it in the desired location. The swivel can be secured with pegs inserted into the tube, preventing it from rotating around the threaded line. And also by means of stoppers, they are also locks, which on the contrary allow free rotation of the swivel around the axis of the threaded line. Ordered a size 2 and 4, for $1.98 and $1.58, respectively. The kits come with 10 pieces.
The fourth option is similar to the previous one, but it uses a plastic glow tube. This swivel can be used in sliding jigs. The plastic tube is less damaging to the line than the metal tube when sliding on the line or cord. I bought it for $2.42 for 30 pieces.
Fifth option. Has 3 movable parts allowing each of them to rotate freely around its axis. Has a gradation in size. Ordered sets of 20 pieces, size 79, 1012, 14*16. The total cost for 60 pieces cost me $10.04.
Sixth option. This form, with attachment on a hollow plastic bead, allows the swivel to move easily along the line. The line is threaded through the hollow bead and secured in the desired location with clips. It is also used for sliding tackle. For example, to attach a sliding float in match fishing. As said, the plastic is less damaging to the line or cord. It has a gradation in size. They are divided into luminous and non-luminous. Took sizes 34 and 58, with a total cost of $13.30 for 60 pieces.
The seventh option. The presence of a snap, instead of a second swivel ring, makes it easier to replace the connected parts of the tackle, and avoids the use of additional connections in the form of snaps. This improves the reliability of the tackle by reducing the number of joints, and prevents coarsening of the tackle due to the use of additional elements. It has gradation in size and carrying capacity. Took number 10, cost for 20 pieces is $1.58.
Fishing snaps
Next I will show the fishing snaps, which is used to connect and fasten the individual parts of the tackle. It is located where different parts of the fishing tackle meet. For example, the connection of the leader and the main line or cord, the plug or bobber and the main line or cord.
The snap makes it easy to change the connecting parts of the tackle and avoids the use of additional knots on the line, improving reliability. It is graded in both size and capacity (breaking strength), which allows you to select the necessary snap, both by the characteristics of the tackle and by the fishing conditions.
The snap can be used in combination with crown rings and swivels, or separately. I bought three kinds of snaps in different sizes. They are sold in batches of 100 pieces.
The first option was purchased in sizes one and four, priced at $2.42 and $3.23.
The second option is a different shape, in sizes of zero and two for $1.90 and $2.42.
And the third snap has two fastener locations and a divider that allows you to limit the movement of the component parts only in the area where they are attached. I bought #0 and #1, at a cost of $1.94 and $2.42.
